Welcome

Whether you are a weaver, spinner, dyer, knitter or a felter you’ll probably have projects begging to see the light of day again.

Let’s free them from their project bags, their cupboards, their drawers or wherever you’ve tucked them away.

Better still: start a new craft! There’s so much content on YouTube and inspiration on Instagram, Ravelry or Pinterest to help you along

We are always delighted to welcome visitors regardless of experience. If you would like to attend a meeting we would love to meet you at Bradford Industrial Museum.

Join Us

Our skill sharing days are great for newcomers who want to chat to guild members about their skills in weaving, spinning or dyeing. It’s a welcoming environment so please pop in.

Anyone is welcome to join us, even if you don’t spin, weave or dye! Details of the current committee members can be found on the Committee page and you can fill in the “contact us” form in the menu or email us at bradfordguild@gmail.com and we’ll get back to you.

From history into the future

People have been spinning, weaving and dyeing for thousands of years; then it was done for necessity but nowadays we do it for fun.  The Bradford Guild is an association of ordinary people from all walks of life who share an interest in textiles  and who want to keep the crafts of spinning weaving and dyeing alive and to encourage others to join in.

The Guild was founded in July 1982 when three people, who had completed a spinning and weaving course, decided that they wanted to find a way to continue to develop their skills, but without a formal course structure. From that small beginning the Guild has continued to grow and is still thriving.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy

The skills we share and enjoy have a long history, in many cultures and have a universal appeal. These diverse crafts should naturally encourage a wide and inclusive interest. We will seek to allow access to this huge diversity.

Members of the Guild will:

  • Treat all people as equals
  • Work considerately and respectfully with all – respecting diversity, different roles and boundaries, and avoiding giving offence
  • Treat everyone with dignity and respect
  • Set an example by behaving as they would like to be treated

Please contact a committee member about any behaviour that you believe is not in line with the policy.

The Guild’s email address is: bradfordguild@gmail.com
